Celebrating the 100th Day of School (and Other Milestones!)

Milestones in early childhood are more than just dates on a calendar—they are meaningful moments that celebrate growth, perseverance, and joy. One of our favorite milestones each year is the 100th Day of School, a day filled with excitement, reflection, and pride for both children and teachers alike.

Why the 100th Day Matters

For young children, reaching the 100th day of school is a big deal! It represents consistency, routine, and the many small steps they’ve taken since the first day of school. From learning classroom expectations to building friendships, these first 100 days are packed with learning experiences that support social, emotional, and academic growth.

Celebrating this day helps children:

  • Build a sense of accomplishment
  • Strengthen number recognition and early math skills
  • Reflect on how much they’ve learned
  • Feel proud of their school community

Most importantly, it makes learning fun and memorable.

How We Celebrate

Our 100th Day celebration is all about creativity and joy. Children might decorate headbands, count collections of 100 items, create art projects, or participate in hands-on activities that make counting and learning tangible. These playful experiences help children understand big concepts in age-appropriate ways—through movement, art, and exploration.

You may hear your child talking about counting to 100, wearing a special accessory, or sharing what they did with their friends. These moments build confidence and reinforce the idea that learning is something to celebrate!

Beyond the 100th Day: Celebrating All Milestones

While the 100th Day is a highlight, it’s just one of many milestones we recognize throughout the year. Milestones in preschool look different for every child and can include:

  • Writing their name for the first time
  • Learning to take turns or express feelings with words
  • Mastering a new self-help skill
  • Building lasting friendships
  • Gaining confidence in group settings

By celebrating both big and small achievements, we help children feel seen, valued, and motivated to keep growing.

Partnering With Families

We love celebrating these milestones with families because you are such an important part of your child’s journey. Whether it’s sharing photos, stories, or simply talking with your child about their school day, these moments strengthen the home-school connection and reinforce how proud we all are of their progress.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward in the school year, we’ll continue to pause, reflect, and celebrate the many accomplishments ahead. Every milestone—whether it’s the 100th Day of School or a quiet personal victory—reminds us how much children grow when they are supported, encouraged, and celebrated.

Thank you for being part of our preschool community and for trusting us with these important early years. Here’s to 100 days of learning… and many more to come! 🎉✨
