🎃 Halloween Fun & Safety Tips for Kids 🎃
Halloween is almost here — and at Discovery Preschools, we can’t wait to see all the little ghosts, superheroes, and pumpkins ready for a night of fun! While this season is full of excitement, we also want to remind families how to keep Halloween safe, happy, and stress-free for everyone.
Costume Safety
- Keep it comfy: Choose costumes that fit well and allow your child to walk and move easily. Avoid anything too long that could cause tripping.
- Be seen: Add reflective tape or glow sticks to costumes if you’ll be out after dark.
- Face first: Try face paint instead of masks whenever possible—masks can make it hard for little ones to see or breathe.
Trick-or-Treat Tips
- Stay together: Always accompany young children while trick-or-treating. Older kids should stick with friends and have a set route.
- Use sidewalks and crosswalks: Remind children to walk, not run, and look both ways before crossing the street.
- Check treats: Before anyone digs in, take a quick look at all goodies to make sure they’re sealed and safe.
Safe Celebrations at Home
If you’re celebrating at home or hosting a Halloween party:
- Keep decorations away from candles or heat sources.
- Use battery-powered candles for pumpkins and lanterns.
- Offer allergy-friendly treats or fun non-candy items like stickers or small toys.
Keep the Fun in Focus
Most of all, remember that Halloween is about imagination and joy! Whether your child is trick-or-treating, attending a school parade, or helping hand out candy at home, the goal is to make sweet (and safe) memories together.
From all of us at Discovery Preschools, we wish your family a spooktacular and safe Halloween! 👻🎃🍭
